Lexie’s New Friend - Meet Wyatt

Posted in Lexie and Friends at 6:43 pm by Robin

Rob and I have been thinking about getting another dog for quite some time. We didn’t want to get another puppy, we wanted a dog a little older than Lexie and we wanted to go through a rescue organization.

I have been watching petfinder.com for months. About a week ago I saw Wyatt and really feel in love. Rob and I decided we would visit the shelter on Saturday, but when I checked petfinder.com on Friday night Wyatt was gone.

We went over to the shelter anyway to look at dogs; we saw a beautiful, black lab mix, but someone was already in line in the process of adopting him. As we were leaving happened to meet a woman by the exit who told us about an adoption event at Pet Food Express. I looked at her sweatshirt and she was wearing a Norsled rescue shirt. My eyes lit up, you see Wyatt is a Siberian Husky. I asked the woman, Elaine, if Norsled had rescued Wyatt and she told me yes and that Wyatt was at Pet Food Express!

Rob, Lexie and I hopped back in the truck and drove over to the adoption event. Sure enough, Wyatt was there; a gorgeous, sweet, boy. We walked Wyatt and Lexie and let them get to know each other. Wyatt came home with us as a “foster” until Wednesday we he gets snipped and we can officially adopt him. He’s really a gentle soul.

Here is Wyatt.

Lexie and Her Christmas Thanks

Posted in Growing Up at 5:05 pm by Robin

We have been very bad about posting lately. During the holiday season there was a house fire at my mother’s home due to an electrical problem. Thankfully she was staying with us at the time and was not hurt. Unfortunately, about a week after the first fire someone broke into her home and set the house on fire again. It’s been a very sad time for our family, but we’re just thankful that we all have each other.

Lexie is doing great. She really had a blast a Christmas time. She received a wonderful Christmas package with goodies from all of her Labrador friends. Thank you all.

I wanted to share some pictures of her opening her gifts.

Now it’s time for a little rest.

Thank you all so much! Mom loves her bracelet too!

Lexie the Labrador @ 8 months

Hello Everyone!

Lexie here! It’s been a long time since my mom let me put my paws on her keyboard. We have been pretty busy and mom has been kind of sick. Mom has something called Crohn’s Disease and she’s had a tough time absorbing her vitamins and minerals since she has has so many surgeries on her belly. Unfortunately, she has had to go for IVs three times per week to make her feel better. Don’t worry, dad has been the bomb…he takes me to the park all the time since mom can’t as much right now. I’m a real daddy’s girl, but I still know that mom is the boss. ;)

Mom and I had surgery on November 8th & 10th. Mom had a pin cushion installed in her shoulder to make her IV treatments easier and I got my girlie parts removed…No Lexie babies from me. Mom and I recuperated together; we were both very sleepy for a few days. Even though my surgery was harder, I was up running around and ready to play much faster than mom. :)

Good news is that we’re feeling better and more importantly I’m allowed to go to the doggy park again and play with my friends. When I had my surgery the doctor said that I was in beautiful health; all 60 pounds of me. I haven’t grown very much lately, I’ve been at 60 pounds for the last couple of months. People say I’m “filling out”. I think I’m kind of short for an 8 month old, but I have a gorgeous figure.

I had a big adventure this weekend. Mom and dad went to Tahoe and left me at home with a nanny and granny. Granny freaked when she saw me and Dallas, the nanny’s dog, playing bitey face in the backyard for two hours; granny just didn’t understand the excitement of the game. Then Dallas escaped through the fence while I lounged in the sun. Dallas ran around looking for his mommy and finally returned to the front door and whined. Granny didn’t know what the sound was, but she opened the door to check the weather. Boy was granny shocked when Dallas came bolting through the door and ran around the house. Granny finally got Dallas locked in her room since she didn’t know what else to do. After hours of chaos granny called mom’s best friend, Auntie Jaana, and her entire family came over to be sure Granny, Dallas, and I were ok. Of course I slept through the entire adventure.

I wasn’t happy when mom and dad were gone, I just laid my head on the nanny’s lap and sighed. I was so happy when they came home I kissed them both for hours.

I don’t bite or chew on my mommy anymore; I just like to kiss everyone….I still like to chew her shoes tho; she needs to figure out a way to seal her closet doors. Auntie Connie was right, I grew out of the “evil puppy stage”.

My mom took some pictures of me today. Here you can see that my belly is still a bit naked, but my gorgeous fur is filling in.

I still have that puppy dog face and really big eyes; yes, the eyeliner is permanent….I still know how to make that really sad looking face that gets a treat every time. Look, I have an orange nose now!

Anyway, we just wanted to let you all know that we’re ok. See here is George; I don’t play with him much because I like to eat his head.

This is me and my buddy Puddin…Puddin doesn’t mind when I eat his head. ;)

And here I am….Just one last shot!

Mom made me an Amazon Store. She thought it would be pretty cool to donate some proceeds to the Labrador Rescue Organization here in California. Mom says that we will rescue a big brother or sister for me this summer.

Lexie the Labrador Hikes Briones Regional Park

Lexie the Labrador at Briones Regional Park

We took Lexie up to Briones Regional Park for the afternoon. First we drove up to a trailhead off Alhambra (can’t remember the name) and hiked around for about an hour. Lexie loved all of the tall grass and cow poop!

She really loved to retrieve.

Then we went over to the Alhambra Creek Staging Area and went for another hike. Lexie was loving it! Once we got away from the parking area she was able to be off leash.

While we were hiking the trail we met Taylor, her dad, and their lab named Lexie! Taylor asked us if Lexie was on the Internet; it turns out that her aunt had sent her a link to this site and Taylor had visited already! Hi Taylor!

We also met Bailey and lots of other dogs on the trail. Bailey thought Rob’s golf club chuck-it was pretty nifty.

We finally found a creek which delighted Lexie to no end. She pranced in the water and proceeded to butt tuck around like a possessed puppy. (doesn’t she look wild?)

But she’s cute even covered in mud (why did I clean my car before we went?)

She even met a few cows for the first time.

We hiked for about three hours. Rob and I were wiped, Lexie looked sad to go.

Hope you had a great day too!
