Mom finally took me to Point Isabel, a really cool dog park by the water that all the COOL Bay Area dogs visit. Here I am, 21 weeks old and she hadn’t even bothered to take me. Yikes! I must train her better.
We met Raider, the handsome black lab, his mom Laura, and Jordon, one of my favorite new friends. Jordon ran around with me, even after I dropped a big stinker! He’s one cool kid.
I wasn’t sure if Raider liked me when we met on Thursday…You see, I like a good round of bitey face, but Raider wouldn’t play with me. I know it was because we were in a big crowd, but my feelings were a bit hurt, you know how we girls are.
Today it was just Raider and I….Oooolaaaalaaaa.

He thought he got me, but I’m spunky and came back for more.

Look who is chasing who now.

We share a special moment.

Then we got to go swimming; this was the first time that either of us had gotten to swim with another dog.

We had some special moments while swimming too.

This is Jordon, he’s so cool, he played with us so much!

Raider out swam me today, I must practice more.

But he had me so excited I was actually butt-tucking!

But I think he would follow me anywhere.

It’s so great to have such an awesome friend.

You can see the rest of our pictures in my album.
Oh yeah, the humans had a good time too!

My mom and I have become active members of the Just Labradors forum. Mom enjoys chatting with other lab owners, looking at photos, learning, and sharing my exploits. Recently we got to meet some of the other members of the forum. We’ve met The H Mom, Marianne, and her labbie Cassie, a beautiful, black field lab, and Raidernation, Laura, and her boy Raider a gorgeous, black bench lab.
On Thursday we all met at Paso Nogal park in Pleasant Hill. A great time was had by all!
Mom took me to the park early; she thought I needed a little workout. I met a beagle who played bitey face until his mean owner made him go home.

Then Cassie came and we were forced to sit for a portrait.

Cassie is four years old, I hope I look that good when I’m four!
Raider came, he was rather aloof at first.

We tried to get a group picture, but those two black labs just wanted to play bitey face. Notice that I just want the treat and am willing to sit through all the silliness.

I hope you notice how good I was. Still sitting there waiting for the other two to settle.

I got tired of the wait, so I went to play with the big girls.

Mom almost got a good picture of Raider and Cassie, but Cassie is just like me….She wanted to get up close and personal with mom’s camera.

Mom made a photo gallery for me, she’s such a computer geek. You can see more pictures @ my photo gallery.

Lexie graduated from PetSmart Puppy Kindergarten this afternoon. I have very mixed feelings about the class, mainly because I discovered that one of the pups in class was not properly vaccinated. We considered dropping out, but since she was fully vaccinated by the time we found out and the routine and learning under very distracting circumstances was good for her we decided to keep her enrolled. Besides, we didn’t want her to be a kindergarten drop-out.
I did decide to enroll her concurrently in Sirius Puppy Training, which I’m really pleased with.
I just learned last week that we would be tested on all that we learned in the eight week class. I wasn’t too worried (ha!), she went into the class already knowing many of the commands, but her staying skills leave something to be desired and when she’s in pet stores the leash isn’t very loose.
We got to PetSmart a bit earlier and we practiced walking around the store and she was doing great. When it came time for her to actually test, she did great! She even did a sit stay and a down stay for me. She only broke the stay when I turned around…that was really my fault because I’ve been encouraging her to come to me by turning around. She is much more reliable on visual cues than verbal, so she did what she thought she was supposed to do.
I tried to get some graduation pictures, but she was too tired. We went to the beach yesterday and I took her to the dog park this afternoon, so when we got home all she wanted to do was sleep.

She got up when I went to go to the kitchen, but she basically just positioned herself in front of the door.

I tried to add some distractions that usually get her excited like fuzz and my other furkid George, but she still wasn’t up for a photo shoot.

I finally gave up and let my baby sleep.

We took Lexie to Pacifica today to play in the ocean, she had a great time. She got to romp in the surf, retrieve, play with other dogs, and dig to her heart’s content.

She has no fear of the water now and swims great; we kept her on a long lead because she liked to visit folks while they were enjoying their lunch. Plus her recall with so many distractions leaves something to be desired, but hey, she’s still a puppy (19 weeks).

I can’t believe how big she’s getting, when we had her weighed two weeks ago she was 37 pounds; I think she must be close to 45 now.

Lexie got to make a lot of new friends too!

She even got to learn about butt tucking from a pro.

She was one exhausted puppy when we got home!
