Lexie the Labrador

Lexie the Labrador

Hi! My name is Lexie! At least I think it is, sometimes I think my name is socute, goodgirl, or nobite. Then I heard that I will have a long name too, something like, Alexa Dakota Duke of Merwood. I guess they’re trying to respect my parents, Dakota and Duke. Oh well, they’ll figure it out.

I’m an eight week old Labrador Retriever and I just went home with my new parents. They came to pick me up on Saturday. I nuzzled next to my new mom and her heart melted, she forgot all those silly things she was supposed to do when you’re picking a new puppy. She looked at my new dad and he thought I was pretty handsome too; he told her that she got to choose; sucker. I’m feeling pretty good about myself; I had six other sisters that were trying to get picked too. Funny thing is that my breeders thought I was the one they would pick too.

I went home in a truck; I was really good on the ride home. My new mom and dad stopped at my grandma and grandpa’s house on the way home and I got to play in the flowers and nap. Grandma gave me a bunch of her tennis balls, she’s the best.

When I got to my new home there were toys, bones, and a big pillow for me to sleep on. I sniffed around the house and found two fuzzy things that weren’t that happy to see me. I barked and the black and white fuzzier thing ran away, the one with the blue eyes and less fuzz stood his ground and gave me a look that said don’t mess with me; so I ran away.

I have a big backyard to run in; my new mom and dad are trying to get me to poop in one spot, but with all that grass to choose from why waste it? It’s easier for me to break the one spot rule in the middle of the night; mom and dad are pretty dopey then. I’m pretty scared of the dark and I whine, I don’t really like the spot they picked at night because it’s so dark; so now they’re letting me go near the lights at night. I’m getting them trained.

At nighttime I’m kind of sad; mom and dad put me in a crate and I don’t want to be in there. Mom comes and sleeps next to me because she knows I miss my real mom and brothers and sisters. I calm down when she sleeps next to my crate; she only has to for a couple of minutes. I almost broke mom on Saturday night, my first night home; I thought she was going to let me out, but she had researched training me and she was determined to keep me in the crate. I really don’t get why I can’t do my business all over the house, that living room has nice carpet.

I know that I’m a handful for them, so last night I slept in my crate from 11:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. without crying; I think that’s pretty nice of me. At 5:00 a.m. dad got up and took me out to the grasslands and gave me some kibble. Oh boy, what a life. Then I went back in the crate for a bit and got bored and woke mom up at 6:30 a.m. She took me outside, I think she was still asleep, she was a little flustered trying to keep up with me in that fuzzy robe and silly slippers. I kept tugging on her robe, that’s what happens when she wears fuzzy, flowing stuff when I’m feeling frisky. She will learn. After we played she had to go play in the sprinklers, I went in the crate and only whined for about a minutel. I’m getting used to my safe den.
I like to sleep a lot still, I play hard for about 45 minutes and then I sleep for hours. My big pillow is really comfy and mom and dad let me sleep there when they can keep an eye on me. Otherwise, I have to sleep in the crate; they know that if I wake up and they’re not around I will take advantage of the living room and the nice carpet.

Hey wait, mom’s coming for me. She’s got that purple rope in her hands, I get to go outside! Yay!
